You seem to have come up with a solution that I’ve got listed in paragraph 4 as a bad idea, along with the reasons it’s a bad idea. Actually most of the article is about why this is a bad idea.

Have I done a bad job of explaining why this is a bad idea?

It’s funny, I wrote this article three and a half years ago and since then, the number of touch-screen laptops has continued to grow, and Apple has just now started their push for the iPad to be your ‘next computer’ — a thing with a keyboard and a trackpad and … a touchscreen. So your code is not only testing the wrong thing, but will get wronger and wronger as more and more people use a mouse and a keyboard to interact with a device that supports touch.
